My Summer Car
My Summer Car Review: Dangerously Hilarious Survival Driving Simulator
My Summer Car is a 1st person survival game with elements of car mechanic simulator developed and published by Finnish Amistech game studio. In this game, you play as a 19-year-old guy who has to repair his dad’s car and complete various countryside tasks to earn money for that. You can download My Summer Car for Windows exclusively on Steam.
My Summer Car Gameplay: 4.5/5
My Summer Car gameplay is an extraordinary thing. This game is a combination of 1st person RPG, action, driving simulator, car mechanic simulator, and survival. You play as an adolescent whose parents flew away for holidays in the Canary Islands. They left him a ramshackle car that looks like a legendary Datsun 100A. You can find some of the parts in dad’s garage or earn some money to buy them in the local store.
Earning money is a difficult task. You have to make alcoholic beverage at home, drive the vacuum truck around the town. Try to sell the drink to your neighbor, then do your best to find this drunk bag of bones and bring him home to get some cash from his wife.
You have to be very circumspect to avoid death from hunger, dirtiness, tiredness, and other physical issues. In the My Summer Car latest version, you can even die from stress, so it’s obligatory to smoke cigarettes, visit the sauna, and drink beer. If you drink too much, you may pass out and find yourself the next day somewhere in a random part of the map.
The whole game is very detailed and humoristically-realistic. It’s challenging to keep the boy in good conditions and not to die. You can optionally activate a permanent death feature that allows the game to delete all previously saved games.
My Summer Car Graphics: 4/5
This game looks rather smooth but looks like an average game from 2012. However, the mediocre quality of visuals perfectly matches the atmosphere of rural Finnish township. You literally feel yourself in the middle of nowhere doing awkward things.
My Summer Car Sounds: 5/5
Developers of My Summer Car survival game manages to recreate the soundscape of rural Finland in summer. You can hear different North European birds, rustling leaves, Finnish radio with local hits of the 90s, and the weird mix of English language with a Finnish accent.
My Summer Car review of a gamepad and a keyboard setup revealed that it’s much more comfortable to use a keyboard. Developers have no plans for publishing the final version of the game on consoles, so they concentrated on adjusting controls for standard PC keyboard and mouse.
Replay Value: 4.5/5
My Summer Car full game walkthrough can take up to 6 hours. It’s advisable to complete all quests because all of them are unique and awkwardly fun. It’s a hardcore experience, so you are likely to be satisfied with a single walkthrough.
My Summer Car is a unique survival experience. Have you ever played as a young guy from Finland who can smoke cigarettes, drive a vacuum truck, repair cars, and pee everywhere he wants? If the answer is “no,” you have to try the game immediately.
